I was asked to do a review on a game called Refunct. It’s not a game pass game but it’s only $2.99 in the Microsoft store.
When I watched the trailer before buying it the game looked beautiful (like most games do) so I wasn’t expecting as much in the game itself. However the game is as pretty as the trailer.
Refunct is a 30 minute game. However it still has play-ability after you finish it.
The goal of the game is to jump from pillar to pillar making grass on the tops and hitting buttons for more pillars to come up out of the water.
The game has no tutorial but it’s easy to figure out how to play. The game itself seems easy but actually takes some thought trying to figure out the best way to hit all the pillars, especially the high ones.
The soundtrack for this game is peaceful and calming and when you add the fact this is a non-violent game (there is no dying) it makes for a great game.
The game is open world and even when you finish you can swim all the way out to the pillars in the distance.
My favorite part of this game is that even when you finish the game you can still go back and hit the buttons and it changes the color as you jump. My Refunct world is a now a multi-colored world. Also when you start a new game it starts in a different color which is fun.
Now I do wish there were more levels because once I finished it I wanted to keep playing. And it took me a little bit to get used to the controls.
Overall I think this is a great relaxing game. Since it’s only $3.00 I don’t think it’s that much for a 30 minute game.
Am I keeping on my Xbox? Yup! In fact as I write this my 15-year old is playing it trying to hit the speed run achievements.
